In addition to daily devotions, Chapel services are attended weekly with students having direct involvement in planning and delivering the program. All students also experience a weekly Christian Studies class as a part of their timetable of study, developing their knowledge and understanding of God and the Christian Faith: its beliefs and practices.
Bayside Christian College has a growing involvement in missionary work. We sponsor a Compassion Australia Child Anik, who lives in Bangladesh (www.compassion.com.au), and students enjoy writing letters and drawing pictures for him. Students love being a part of the annual Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal (www.samaritanspurse.org.au) as they have the opportunity to donate toward and pack a Shoebox for a needy child in another country.
Students are encouraged to celebrate and develop their faith together through involvement in lunch time life groups, and other activities as opportunity arises. Students also enjoy presentations from visiting ministries such as Iron & Clay, Quizworks and Dan Warlow.
Hi I’m Marissa Francis, and I am privileged to be the Chaplain at Bayside Christian College. Seeing children, young people and our school community living fulfilled lives and developing their God-given potential is what motivates me to serve here. Spirituality is an integral aspect of this as Bayside Christian College takes a holistic, whole person approach to education. I am more than happy to be contacted to answer any questions or if you would like to speak to me about anything.
BCC is a Queensland Baptist Education Institution and as such Chaplaincy aligns with the same teachings, beliefs and worldviews (www.qb.org.au). The expression of our faith is demonstrated in the mandate of ‘Loving God; Loving Each Other’. Staff and students model the loved and servant-hood demonstrated in the person of Jesus Christ as we grow in knowledge and understanding of the Christian Faith through relationship with Him and humankind.
Whole School Approach
The Chaplain coordinates and oversees the expression of the Christian Faith in a multi-dimensional approach, and provides group and individual spiritual direction and care. Teachers, staff and students each contribute to the demonstration of Christianity according to their capacities. Teachers provide intentional and ongoing pastoral care through daily devotions incorporating prayer, Bible reading and life application, with each other and students. Teachers are the first college point of contact for students as they journey through life.
