Bayside Christian College recognises the vital role that parents, grandparents and other groups or individuals play in the education of our children and we encourage their co-operation and involvement. Parental support is strongly encouraged in all areas of the curriculum. Confidentiality regarding students and their needs is also an important aspect of class involvement.
As a community that cares for the welfare of all its members, Bayside Christian College is committed to the ongoing safety of the children and adults who live, work and learn in our College community. In order to achieve this, we need to have a shared understanding with both paid and volunteer staff of suitable and unsuitable behaviours.
At Bayside Christian College, we are blessed with many who support our learning initiatives. Due to a legislative requirement, it is now mandatory that all volunteers and staff (including parents of students) undergo student protection training and hold a current Positive Notice Blue Card.
Another change of practice resulting from this legislation is that all volunteers must sign in and out of the front office when working within the school grounds. A sign in/out book is located in the foyer of the office, along with visitor tags. Please remember to sign in at the office before moving on to other areas of the College.
To ensure that this program is proactive rather that reactive, it is important that we implement sound preventative practices into all aspects of life in our school. It requires a culture of communion involving all members of the community in being aware, gathering information and passing it on through the correct processes to ensure the removal or reduction of any incidents where possible before they become problematic.
Your assistance as a volunteer is greatly appreciated, as our College Community would not run as smoothly without your valuable input.
